Helping to heal, energize, become aware of inner strengths, and flourish.
I truly enjoy working with children and adolescents, as they are curious, honest in their feedback, and keep you on your toes throughout sessions. I have always focused on working with youth and helping them understand why our brains do some of the things they do. I incorporate an interactive and relaxed environment and empower kids to be part of the treatment team. I describe my role as “the helper” to problem solve the issues and develop new coping skills. Parents are active in therapy services as well and are an important part of the treatment team.
I come from a cognitive behavioral perspective, meaning that in order to modify one's behaviors, we must process the emotions and thought patterns behind them. With adolescents, this is often done through Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and for children, therapy is modified to incorporate their language of play and parents' role of providing a therapeutic and secure environment.
I started my psychotherapy practice in local children's hospitals and clinics, as well as community mental health clinics. I am an experienced provider for outpatient psychotherapy and online therapy services in pediatric hospital and clinic settings. I specialize in managing depression and anxiety, play therapy, adjustment to medical diagnosis, motor tics, behavior modification, and pain management through use of biofeedback and self-hypnosis.
I understand how important it is to find a therapy provider that is a good fit for you and your child. I am happy to talk more with you prior to scheduling your new patient intake session to answer any further questions you may have. You may call / email to request a phone consult or you may schedule a free video chat online.
I am honored to work with families as they go through these difficult times and appreciate your openness to invite me to walk alongside you in your journey. I look forward to working with you and your family.
